Rules, Regulations - That Sort Of Thing
As the whole raison d'etré of the Beerhounds is fun, booze & motorcycles, any rules will be kept to a bare minimum.
The main function of the Beerhounds is to further the enjoyment to be had from motorcycling, and the social side of motorcycling, i.e. parties and organised runs.
The Beerhounds will endeavour to put on at least one party/rally a year to raise money for charity.
The club is primarily a social one, and ownership of a motorcycle is not a prerequisite of membership, however, any member should be able to "join in" i.e. attend the odd rally/run, and Tuesday night meeting.
The club will have an AGM each year, in August, and as many "official" meetings as deemed necessary. As many members possible should attend these, however attendance is not compulsory, but anyone not attending will have NO say in any decisions made therein.
A fee of ten pounds is payable each year, in August for existing members, and upon joining for new members. This is to pay for patches, and any other sundry expenses the club may have.
For new members, there is no set "prospecting" period, the only proviso being that the prospective member should attend a few meetings/parties and so on, and when the general opinion is favourable they may join.
If any existing member has a "problem" with a new member, they should voice their concern to a committee member, and an official (private) meeting will be held to decide what course of action to take. NB Personal dislike is not enough to disbar a potential member.
Any member can be expelled if the overwhelming majority of the club feels that his/her words or actions are offensive to the rest of the club, or have brought the rest of the club into disrepute/conflict with anyone else. This will take place at an official meeting, with the member under threat of expulsion allowed to defend himself, if he so chooses.
At an appropriate meeting or AGM, the club will democratically decide what to do with any profits made; Suggestions are welcome and will be voted on. Only active members who have "joined in" should expect a share.
Club officers/Committee are semi permanent, and shall only be voted upon at the AGM if they decide to stand down, or, if any other member feels they can do the job better, they are entitled to ask the club if they would like to vote upon it. If yes, a 75% majority will be required, if no, that is the end of the matter.
Almost all decisions affecting the club will be arrived at democratically, the exception being the organisation/running of the rally, when members should be prepared to carry out tasks allocated to them.
The rules are flexible, and can be replaced/superseded/added to when required, after a majority vote, apart from the following.
By wearing club paraphernalia, and calling yourself a 'Beerhound', you are deemed to have accepted all other rules. If the club ever folds, any monies will be divided equally amongst all active members.
The club will affiliate to the MAG and the NABD, but members will be encouraged to take out individual memberships too.
The club will meet socially, on the first Tuesday of the month at the Penny Black in Bicester, and the third Tuesday at the Plough in Arncott. Any matters needing discussion may take place there i.e. runs, parties etc. For an official meeting, at least two weeks notice should be given.
CLUB OFFICERSDrunk-in-Charge: The presidents’ position. No powers other than casting a vote. Also should carry out admin tasks, such as poster production etc., and drinking heavily.
Secretary: Along with the treasurer, the real person in charge, not just a pisshead. Responsible for keeping an up to date and accurate list of member details. Should be a grownup, with some organisational abilities, preferably a woman.
Treasurer: Keeps track of the dosh, and helps the secretary. Should be able to do sums.
